It’s true! Both albums are now available on Bandcamp for free!
I’m pretty happy with both of them. Doctor Butcher V explores some old themes and expands on others. In a sense it was a bit of a tribute to the previous albums.
Work on Doctor Butcher VI has not begun yet, but will be a bit of a departure from the first five albums insofar as it will heavily feature the bass guitar to compliment that classic Doctor Butcher samples. I’ve got a few samples in mind. I’m excited. I’m unsure of what the story or theme to the album will be quite yet, but I’m sure it will develop organically as the others have done.
Music To Dream By Volume II however is a bit of a departure from the first. I pulled back on the dialogue samples rather heavily, played around with some higher tempo drums, and let the songs last a little longer. Unlike Doctor Butcher which is a story, MTDB is a very moody and emotional project and I allowed myself to indulge in some longer track times. Most are still pretty short. It also includes a goofy little downsampled and jumpy version of the Talking Heads classic ‘This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)’
Anyway, blah blah blah! Go download the new albums!

Music To Dream By (Volume II)
Okay folks, DBV is nearing completion. I’m up to about 32 minutes (of a projected 45) and decided to spend today making a few music videos.
Stay tuned and don’t forget, Doctor Butcher makes house calls!
Okay, it’s been a while since I updated this, so here is the latest!
Progress has been slow since my return from Utah, but I am getting back into the swing of regular production. I cut a few tracks from DBV and remade three of them. One may be cut or edited, I’m still in the process of deciding what’s exactly to do with it. I also have nearly completed the introductory song. I will give it a few tweaks before the final release of the album, to be certain. Minor stuff. It’s a fun intro.
Currently DBV is weighing in at a healthy 18 minutes.
Music To Dream By Vol III has made some progress, but I’m not entirely satisfied with its new additions, but I am more interested in finalizing DBV before I turn my ears back to MTDB.
New samples include Alfred Hitchcock, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Goblin, more Fabio Frizzi, more Hammer, more Starcrash, some Dungeonmaster, and I believe some XTRO has returned as well (bearing powers of black magic from deep space)!!
I fixed the intro and gave two of the new songs videos. Enjoy!
It’s your last chance to pick up ‘Doctor Butcher Vol I & II + Bad Lieutenant’ tapes down at Ground Kontrol Classic Arcade in the heart of Old Town Portland!
There are less than 30 copies remaining in this limited run of 100! Cop yours today!
Wave one of ‘Doctor Butcher V’ has landed on YouTube!
In other news DB I & II tapes are almost finished recording.
My trusty Nakamichi LX-5 is recording tape 75/100 as I write this. As soon as I hit 90/100 or so I will order the next batch of tapes for DB III & IV, which may wind up being a limited run of 50 instead of 100. It depends on how quickly I finish ‘Music To Dream By’ Vol II & maybe even III. I’d like to get those released. Relatively soon. Before summer, for a certainty. I may also release some older stuff under the title of ‘Hound Music’
3 days and 10 minutes into Doctor Butcher V this far.
Haven’t done much today besides some tweaks. Finishing recording the Doctor Butcher Vol I & II tapes.
There are currently less than 30 tapes left, so make sure to get one while you still can!
Doctor Butcher IV – Blackwolf is a wrap and available for free on Bandcamp!
In other news the work on Doctor Butcher V has begun. So far 3 tracks totaling 5 minutes of content have been produced for it and they are pretty dope if you’d like my, admittedly biased, opinion.
I think the theme will be a bit of a return to themes I worked to achieve in DB1, specifically classic horror and outlandish sci-fi, but we’ll see how it develops organically. Regardless, I’m pretty excited and happy with what I’ve made so far.
Doctor Butcher Vol III & IV tapes will begin production in mid-late April.
